French Remington Rolling Block Bayonet
Here's a bayonet i didn't realize I needed until I spotted it on an alternate auction site.
While I collect any and all bayonets, I concentrate on WWI and WWII examples, and I did not make the connection of this one being a WWI bayonet until I researched it after finding the auction. Now unfortunately I need to find the rifle.
It's for the No 5 Remington Rolling Block in 8mm made for France in 1915-1916, 100,000 made. This is a long version of the shorter bayonet made for their other rolling blocks. The Union Metallic Cartridge Co addition to the marking is what identifies this as part of the French contract. This was the last military contract for the rolling block rifle.
