Rare Ishapores
This girl just arrived from the UK as my Enfielditis could not be contained.
Previously I posted that Ishapore P1907 bayonet production ended in the last quarter of 1921, it then resumed (now officially Bayonet No. 1 Mark I) in September 1939 per the published material of 220 made from September 1939 to March 1940. Based on examples found I feel that production really resumed in January 1940 with the first bayonets being finished from incomplete 1921 blades left in stock.
The new bayonet started in September 1921 has had its date crossed off and January 1940 stamped above it. In 1956 it was modified to a Bayonet No. 1 Mark I** during a huge Ishapore Factory Repair program (FR).
A second example I have (previously posted) escaped this program and remained a straight Mark I. It was started in October 1921 and shelved, and finished in January 1940. Ishapore also resumed in production bayonets as shown in January 1940 with a interesting date style change in February 1940 with the " '40".
