Not often you see translated weapon manuals but here the British unusually copied the French :p

Apart from trench mounts the MG08 from period evidence was used without its sled. The gun was carried by one man and either placed on the ground or used with the MG08/15 bipods or T Gewehr bipod (as shown). I assume it must have shaken quite a bit but as an area weapon that would not have mattered much.
