Im not sure where the best place to put this.
Has anyone here done restoration work on a dreyse or chassepot rifle? Since im a rather bored person im contemplating building one.

Dreyse - insanely expensive over here, and ballistically inferior to the Chassepot.
Chassepot - I'm slowly getting to grips with a wreck at the present. I seriously recommend that you get the book by Wolfgang Finze "Chassepot Zündnadelgewehre". ISBN:9783752829136
Ok , it's in German, so you'll need to know or pick up enough German to get the gist of it. If there's anything good in English I'd be delighted to hear about it.
But please note that spares are rare and expensive, since there are other people out there with the same idea! And making up needle-fire cartridges is just what you need if you are troubled by too much spare time.
Well, at least you wiil have solved the boredom problem
If you have a rather old Traditions inline muzzle loader, you have half the gun made for you.
Just a matter of making/modifying the bolt to work. and barrel mod.
Are we supposed to worry about ballistics?
