Looks like Anzio Annie
Krupp K5
Interesting side note when I returned to college one of my classmates was a descendant of the Krupp's. His family received a multimillion dollar check from Krupp Corp. They promptly returned the check.
Isn't that barrel a bit too big for a Garand?:D
Nice picture though.
Wonder why they returned the cheque.
I did not remember but there were two Krupp guns but this was not known until the capture. One was called Leopold which was shipped to the USA and the other Robert which is on
display in Europe
A German equivalent of "Built like a Mack Truck" was "Hart wie Kruppstahl."
Krupp built about 25 K5 guns. Six were on the west wall, of which one is on display at Battery Todt, Audinghen, France. Two were sent to Anzio (Robert and Leopold). Both were captured, heavily damaged, and the parts of both were used to build-up Leopold which is on display in Fort Lee, VA. The gun in the OP's picture is named "Breslow", one of the ones scrapped and lost to history. Both guns on display carry the name markings of "Leopold". (?)
Perceptions. Depends on what you believe to be the truth.
