Firearm manuals won at auction and a recipe?

Last week I bit on a lot of old firearm manuals, the auction picture showed just showed a pile of manuals so it was really a shot in the dark. It did pay off though because when I got the manuals in the mail today a number of the manuals are the ones I have been looking for and originals are hard to find.

The most curious thing was what I am guessing is a recipe for something, I have no idea what it for. Maybe Cherrie wine? Can't really read the note...

Is it Berries or Cherries? I'm guessing that by that time it's broken down and the juice out of the fruit? I would think you had to mash the Berries or Cherries first though Hmmmm is that what it says in prentices (Mash cherries before putting in ????) ?

Yes, wine. I can read it too. Those manuals...I have a fieldmaster here and 760 rifle...had a 721 and a Mod 48 auto. Just sold my '94 rifle a week ago. Nice old manuals too.

Oh, I love the Herter's Bull Elk Calling manual.
I have a lot of stuff from Herters from the 60's-70's including
the George Leonard Herter's guides knife and 2 loading presses which I still use.

The way it's written, they want the cherries mashed before putting in the crock, and the berries taken out after it works for 10 days - probably meant (what's left of) the cherries?? - Bob

I agree, just a miswritten direction, but anyone that has made wine can tell you that berries/cherries/grapes are all interchangeable. Like making mash whiskey, just about anything from potatoes to apples can be used.
