I bought this in the 90's and let a guy talk me into unwrapping it but I've never fired it and have kept it in climate controlled conditions in a bag.
I'm downsizing and thinking about letting this go.

I bought one a couple months ago that was unwrapped and had the exterior cosmoline cleaned off but not separated to remove any internal cosmoline. It looks to have been test fired only. I would guess this to be on the low end but I paid $550 for it. I have since found a correct unissued no9 bayonet and unissued blue gray frog and sling for it.
Thank you... I will admit that I was imagining somewhat more. I guess my "imagination" was much inflated... I still don't know a great deal about surplus weapons than I did when I bought this. I let the guy (deemed himself to be an expert) talk me into allowing him to unwrap it. I stored it away and then life got really busy and I forgot about it for a very long time. I'm kicking myself for letting him do that! :banghead:
I know very little about Enfields...but I did find these two completed auctions on GunBroker that may make you feel a bit better.
Fazakerley No4Mk2 .303 British 1955 New In Wrap - Bolt Action Rifles at GunBroker.com : 790599850
British Enfield MkII .303 w/Bayonet In Box/Wrapped - Bolt Action Rifles at GunBroker.com : 789626900
Hope that helps!
:dancingbanana: many thanks, you made me feel lots better!
Those prices are for unwrapped rifles ! The going price for the rifle that has been taken out of the wrapper is much lower . I have 2 that have been taken out of the wrapper and the price is a little north of $500.00 .
What a roller coaster... Like I said, I've been beating myself up for letting the fellow take the wrap off. Though it's been out of the wrap for several years, if I told you it was opened yesterday, Noone could tell it. Drat!
Maybe I can't get the +$1K but I might get close.... Exceptionally Fine British Enfield No 4 Mk 2 UF 55 - Curios Relics at GunBroker.com : 791924031 if I decide to sell, I'll start higher and come down...
I've had it setting beside the fireplace for the last few nights and it looks so good I'm keeping the little fellow... I remember looking at ammo back then and thinking it was awfully expensive. Where can I pick up some fitting non-corrosive ammo that won't break my bank?
