OK, I have a question. What buffer do you guys use on .300 blackout: Standard, H, H1, or H2. When I was using the lower on an M4 5.56 build, I used an M16 BCG and H buffer, which really smoothed it out. I will be using the same buffer and BCG on the .300 build. I was just wondering what others have on theirs.
I don't really have much variation available here. I'm committed to a standard.
Assuming you don't have a switchable gas block. it all depends on three things.
What ammo are you shooting?
Supersonic, or subsonic?
Are you running a suppressor?
What length is your gas system? Carbine, or pistol?
300 BLK barrels with a carbine length gas system have a very large gas port to function with subsonic ammo. With supersonic ammo, they are a bit overgassed. Use a standard buffer with subs, and a H or H2 with supers if the recoil is a little too harsh.
With pistol gas, I'm running a H2 and it cycles reliably and locks back on the last shot.
If you are reloading, use AA1680 for subs, and W296 or H110 for supers.
I'll keep you guys info'ed. I'm running pistol and a standard buffer. Initially it will be factory and I can't say just now if it's sub or super. BBL is 16".
Thanks No4mk1t, It is a carbine length 1/7" barrel and non-adjustable gas system. Mostly be shooting 125 grain HP Sierra Match King 300 Blackout bullets using WW296. No suppressor (I live in Kalifornistan), and I have a H buffer in an M4 stock assembly. I may actually dabble with some hard cast (wheel weight) LEE 233 (?) grain bullets just for plinking.
I run a 8.5" pistol gas with an adjustable gas block (that I no longer need to adjust). Got it tuned to run 110, 125, and 147gr Supers as well as 220gr Subs without a suppressor. Subs cycle using AA1680, 100%. I'm running a Carbine buffer. No visible signs of being over gassed.
