Think your looking like the WWII vintage one like they had on the Garand & the 0'3's had a look at Brownells Au they had only one product but the USA site for them has a good few types don't you have a local G/S there as Auckland is no back blocks town
I have reproduction Garand style leather cheek rest on my scoped M1917. When I mounted it I put the pad on top of the comb instead of to the side as it was designed. This method puts the lacing on the lower left side of the buttstock instead of the bottom. It has been working well so far and makes a huge difference when working with a scope on these rifles. - Bill
ETA; they are sold everywhere from gun shows to eBay to major retailers like Midway and Brownell's.
You might consider one of the reproduction wooden cheek pieces as sold by Fultons of Bisley for the No.4Mk.1T. It was originally designed for the P14T and fits that rifle better than it does the No.4T. The only drawback is that it has to be screwed on with #8 wood screws.
I know you want leather for authenticity. You might have a look at the Bradley. Kydex, but adjustable and no screws. I have one on my M1A and it's great. Just not historical.
Thank you for the replies they have been very helpful.
