What makes you think it an East German rebuild?
Not sure what it is. Blue looks good, not sure it has bee re-blued.
I did see a deactivated similar FN Mauser advertised recently in not such good condition that hadn't had a replacement stock which was said to be ex Israeli armed forces.
The rifle has DDR (East German) rebuild characteristics. The receiver is a somewhat rare FN1930 with a prewar FN logo. Most of the pictures I'm finding on the internet of FN logo receivers are of Chinese contract rifles.
Well I received it and was able to take it apart and check it out. It is definitely a DDR rebuild and I'm pretty sure it hadn't been about in a long time, perhaps since it was rebuilt. It has old cloth tape shimming in the stock inletting. The barrel is like new, and the only mark it has on it is a "crown N". The receiver has had the Belgian proofs and serial number polished off, but you can still make out part of them. It has the typical Belgian proofs on the bottom of the receiver and some of the machining below the wood line looks a bit rough. There is absolutely no pitting on the receiver so its probably not from China, ill bet it was part of the Chinese contract though. The die used to stamp the makers mark on the receiver rail was pretty worn out and I was able to find a picture on the internet of a Chinese contract rifle that matched exactly. I'll get pictures up as soon as I can take some decent ones, maybe this weekend.
