Fixed my problem, but now extremely heavy pull...

Hi everyone, I replaced the following items:

Sear
Sear spring
Trigger
Firing Pin Rod

Now everything works, no hangups, no firing with the first stage...

...but now the trigger pull is heavier than any rifle I've ever fired. Before it wasn't extremely light, but it was pleasant, now it takes a fair bit of muscle (It feels like I'm firing a DAO pistol), and there is a little bit of creep right before the break in the second stage.

Following KISS, I'm guessing since these are Milsurp parts from Numrich, it may simply be surface treatment. Am I correct in assuming first step is simply mirror polishing sear face, trigger stages, and firing pin rod face? Moly lube on sear face?

Well, never mind. With the new sear and rod, straight out of the packing, the safety won't engage without pulling back on the cocking piece. :(

The old cocking piece has much more of an "entry" bevel cut on the safety grooves...

Please don't chastise, just musing as I try to figure this all out.

I have purchased a few parts form Numrich and was disappointed both times, One was a Hi Standard .22 barrel that looked great on the outside (reblued) but the tube was shot out.

You could return the stuff but i would just email BillRicca.com with your needs and ask him if he can provide "new old stock".

I've often had to take a honing stone to the bevel of a new safety to enable it to engage the cocking piece.

Well, I decided to, since I figured it was already toast, do my best in a practice interface polish. Polished the sear face and firing pin rod face, put a tiny break on the edge of both. Now I have trigger with no perceptible creep at the second state. It also has gone down significantly in pull weight.

This is actually a common '03 issue. You need more then 1-2 parts to find the right combination. Another Sear and FP Rod will start the process.

I've got a rifle with a significant 2nd stage creep which didn't change after every possible combination of replaced parts. So, I'll just live with it since the rifle has a single heat treated receiver. 11-17 barrel, 7532XX number. I know I know, why the X's? Well just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean that "They" ain't out to get me. LOL
