Hi all,
I hope all is well. I would like to know if the British No1 MKIII used a cross bolt in the stock or was it just the Indian rifles?
Thank you!

Just Indian
It was originally a British 'invention' that was picked up by the Indians.
Whilst we in the UK basically used it as a 'repair / strengthening' screw, the Indians eventually introduced it for all production.
It could be either, but % wise there is more chance of it being Indian
OK thank you. So an English Enfield could have the cross bolt as a repair but in general the stocks did not come with them. I appreciate the help!
A cross bolt if repaired in India.
The "Ishapore screw"; an appropriate double-entendre! :D
