Wish he had better pictures of his Winchester flip sight,
the bottom of the base looks odd.

After seeing he's bought from No Guts..........you can't help but wonder.
Seller does state.... 'All of my parts are guaranteed Original USGI' but nothing about returns or inspection.

The sight is what one would expect from you know who out on the left coast.
Aw come on, he states.
"These were very rare they did not code them for every maker. This one has the U and is dated 1943. All of my parts are guaranteed Original USGI. If you have any questions please let me know."
How can we doubt him. So I wrote and asked him a question. I will be curious to what his response might be.
In late 1944 Underwood had a contracted quantity of 41,990 carbine slings at a cost of 21 cents each. There is a note that this is the highest contracted price to date. I do not know the actual manufacturer of Underwood's slings. This is the only "Stand Alone" contract for carbine slings from Underwood. The rest were slings delivered with their carbine contracts.
I used to have several Underwood slings, individual wrapped, khaki, and all were unmarked. All research shows no markings for any Underwood delivered slings.
By late 1944 all new contracts were Olive Drab. Another reason why this guy's sling is a fake.
Bill, does the sling look authentic, just over-markings are suspect?
It is hard to tell. During the 1990's when lots of slings came in from Korea, many dealers did not know the history and added both phony and fantasy markings, figuring a marked sling will sell for more money. Unfortunately often it did.
You can find legit slings with markings that never existed and fake marks on slings that were originally unmarked.
You know, the imprint on that U does look a might fresh.
The rubber band is definitely an authentic rubber band.
