Yes quite an impression system. I saw the moderator trials at Sennybridge two years ago, as we were trialling a data trail recorder, and wondered where it would sit in the Infantry line up for section use.
It survived severe weather on the Beacons and I understand did well in the sandpit too. Shame we couldn't put back into service those on the back wall...........yes you guessed it the SLR!!
I guess its really just a fancy SLR at the end of the day Gil, what used to be regarded as a standard infantry weapon, has been elevated to the lofty heights of "Designated Marksmen Rifle"
I was speaking to someone who was issued with the L129A1 in the Sand Pit, he really rated it, accurate reliable and tough, Armalite heritage mated to 7.62mm NATO, close to a perfect union in my opinion.
