Hello gent's,
I picked up a M1941 Carcano and now I am looking at stripper clips. I'm seeing Brass ones & Steel ones. I would like them to be the correct time frame for the rifle. So is there a difference between the two?

No difference that I'm aware of. Steel is probably wartime production but I expect the brass was around at the same time.
Both styles were produced all the way though and before WWII. Steel was the primary type made in WWII, but there was also brass ones manufactured as well. Not to mention that they would reload the clips at the factory sometimes so a earlier clip could be issued out as well.
I appreciate the info.
Thank You Gentlemen!

Confirm all. I have three boxes of wartime ammo, all with steel clips, but got brass clips from my grandpa who was serving during the war.
use the clips extractors are getting hard to come by. an they break when forced over rim
Does anyone have a photo of the 7,92x57mm clip for the Carcano conversion ? I understand these are quite rare.
Easy to find online, just do a search. It's the same clip, it is just cut in a certain place.
Greetings,
my brass clips are dated SMI-28 & LN-C17
From another site that deals with military rifles, I was told they are 1917 and 1928 production.
later clips are steel....SMI-39 of which I have 3 and 1 stamped RR-M36.
(1939 and 1936)
some folks actually ''collect'' these clips.
there are some ''aftermarket'' clips available (reproductions) that are reported to not function very well.
Again, all the ''original'' clips I have function without any trouble in both my old 1891 long rifle and my like new model41 (FAT47),.
hope this is of some help.
Brass clips were also produced all the way through WWII. My nice book on Carcanos has a excellent portion in the back on the various mannlicher clips showing years and materials. Both are correct and both were used.
