Ammo for Egyptian FN49
I've been working on a Century re-build that I inherited from my father. So far, I've confirmed the two piece firing pin, swapped the 7mm bolt for a 30-06 with the stop and am trying to select the right height front sight (original low, first try over corrected high).
My question is about ammo - I managed to get some Yugo sniper 8mm gassed right, but the 198 gr Privi came back pretty dinged including what I assume is an ejector mark. This is with the gas vent fully opened.
I'm guessing this pretty much rules out further use of this load in this rifle - are there other commercial loads that won't over gas these things?

Here's a vid for you showing you how to adjust the gas on those bad boys...

Thanks. While not as bad as the example in the video, my Privi brass is beat up even with the gas vent fully open. The Yugo looks good and I had to close it a bit too get the last round to eject cleanly.

That should be OK then. Make sure to oil the rails and when it gets dirty it may need to be closed one more notch...but it may not get that dirty on the range. Remember the military doesn't care about dinged cases. Clean ejection is prized over brass condition. You kind of get what you get with ball.

Don't run Turk through it.
