P-17 forearm length?
I am going to de-sporterize my RCAF marked P-17, and in order to preserve the markings, I intend to splice on a new forend under the barrel band. Question is how long is the forend from the step at the rear of the barrel band to the end of the nosecap?
Any help would be appreciated.

On my M1917 Eddystone it measures 11 11/16 inches. It also measures 3 5/8 inches from the muzzle which is critical if you want the bayonet to fit properly.

Gary--
Please post some photos when you are finished. Good Luck.

I will take some pics along the way for sure. I just got the new forend spliced on and will start shaping it. One more favour however. Although I have all the metal bits, the hand guards are on order. without the upper hand guard it is a bit difficult to know the correct placement for the front band/nosecap. If anyone can throw me a measure from the bbl straight down to the bottom of the wood or an overall measure it would be great to get me in the ball park and just do some final fitting when they get here.

Gary-- Is that from the muzzle or chamber end. If from the chamber end do you want the measurement from where the barrel shank comes into contact with the front face of the receiver?

Looking for muzzle end. Easiest measure would be looking straight on from the muzzle, the measure from the bottom of the barrel channel to the bottom of the exposed wood within the nosecap. this gives me a good starting point I can work with.

Gary--
Could you post a picture of what measurement you are looking for? I do not want to give you bad information as I am having a problem understanding the measurement you are looking for.
