I have a Longbranch Lee Enfield this is very accurate but what is odd looking is the front sight is all they way over to the right . What is the cause of this . Like I said it is one of my most accurate rifles but have never seen a rifle that has the sight that far over to one side . When first got it I figured it was going to be a job getting it sighted in but first shots were right on and didn't have to do anything .
So, it shoots on at all ranges then? If so then it's zeroed and the amount of adjustment is not a worry to the military. It's we the aftermarket that worry. It's fine, if it shoots be glad as there's some that need bags of work to get them back to zero.
It's kind of funny when I offer to let someone shoot it and they pick it up and first see how far the sight is off set , the expression on their face !! I just tell them don't worry just shoot it first and afterward they just smile and say crazy ! Someone said the barrel must be bent or the sight is not square !!??
So...that's why I asked if it shoots to POA at all range. To find out you shoot at 25, 50, 100 and 200. If it strikes at the same vertical line on the target at all ranges then all is fine. If you find it starting at one side of the line at 25 and being the other side of the line at 100 then you have a sight or barrel issue.Quote:

The military specification is that the blade shouldn’t be moved past flush on the base either way. If it is past flush for zero, it needs to be checked out.
I own a old US M1873 rifle that has had the front sight neatly knocked off to the right. The gun shoots perfectly regulated. I looked the old rifle over and near as I can determine the sight gut 'budged' over to compensate for the stock warping around the barrel....
Met some friends at a public range last week (I shoot mostly on my own property) and saw a gun smith/dealer we have done business with sometimes and had my Lee Enfield among other rifles with me and showed it to him . He said thought maybe the rear site was twisted a bit . Shot out to 200 yards which was max and granted I don't do great with my eyes past 100 but biggest part the hits were in the middle . He said seemed to be shooting strait enough to not be overly worried about it . Just looks funny .
Put a straight edge on the barrel to ensure it's not bent. Then level the rifle in a vise and put a small spirit level on the flat on the chamber area of the barrel. It sounds like the barrel may not be installed correctly.
