Gday all. My father passed away and left me this bugle. Never got to tell me any of its history value. Hoping someone here could tell me?

I can only tell you what the markings tell us. First off, the truly significant markingis the hand stamped '11th Aus. I.R.'. This was 11th Battalion AIF which was raised in WA in 1914. Significantly, the battalion landed and fought at Gallipoli, and later, fought on the Western Front. The battalion's history is available here: 11th Australian Infantry Battalion | The Australian War Memorial
The markings also tell us that the bugle was made in or around 1906 in London by Henry Potter and Co. The address of the firm is given as well.
You may have to see if your Great Grandfathers or Grandfather either side of the family served in the WWI campaigns or someone from that side of the family tree to try and figure its history as for value to Australia its priceless!
Depending on what you want to do keep & cherish it, put it on display at the RSL Club (Bit risky unless they have good security) or ask the AWM if they would be interested in displaying it for a while, either way I would leave it alone and its patina which so many people wishing to do good and make things shiny again destroy the piece by removing its patina which is its history.
A great piece of Australian history who can tell it may have landed at Galipolli.
Wow !WOW ! Yes Dad did have family at Gallipoli and I think the Boer war plus WW2 and of course dad was in Korea and the Malayan campaign.
So sad that the ole fella is not here to hear the news.
Many thanks fellas . Any more info be great !
Great looking piece. A mouthpiece can be had so it's complete, perhaps you can find a period piece to match it... I have a much newer one myself. Picked it up in Aus when I was there...
Thank you all so much. What an interesting tale the ole bugle could tell eh? Im full of interest to find where it may have been .
