I Might be old.....but I'm not stupid.

Up visiting my mother this morning, she's 100 and still living by herself.
She was a bit toey, it seems that she just watched a news article where they named a DC10 Water Bomber "Nancy Bird".
Well that went down like a lead balloon with mum, Nancy was Family, a couple of years older than my mother, but in the old days they got on pretty well.
Mom has never forgiven Nancy for losing her engagement ring.......I quizzed the old girl and couldn't keep from laughing.

It seems Auntie Nance took mom up for a joy flight in her new plane back in the late thirties, she was showing off a bit, lots of loops and stall turns......that was ok, except she gave no warning of the manouver beforehand, mom clasped the side of the cockpit and her ring got caught, a sudden turn to the other side had mom tossed that way, her ring coming loose and the next loop had it out and gone.

Nancy Bird Walton is an Australian Icon, but my mom recalls her as "that bloody Nancy".

Glad to see your mum is a feisty as ever muffett my mothers name was Nancy as well her side of the family came from the Wagin/Kataning district in W.A the Williamsons of whom I think a couple may have served in the 10thLH and the 25thLH (posted pics of the hat badges/collars ages ago) sadly I am unable to clarify it now, my dad was from Plymouth in England came here by himself in 1929 as a 16 y/o to be with his brother at their mine near Coolgardie. It was called the "Snake Pit" still have about an Oz of gold in natural form he dug up all those years ago.

No matter what goes on in life you only really have 1 mum & dad.

Any bad habits at 100 ? smoke, drink, eat red meat etc......

I gotta say, I've always put her long life down to lack of sex.
She had five children, the last born in 1954, lost her husband in 1958 and raised us single handed.
Only began to party in 1980 when the last of us were out of her hair.

The threads heading is in reference to an invitation when she was eighty, to go bungee jumping.
Her comment was "I never trusted the lackie in my knickers when I was a girl.....and I'm sure not going to trust it now"

She only slowed her tripping around down after she turned ninety five.

What does this exactly mean?
I really can't grab it.

I found an explanation like shirt in the trousers, which might make sense, but can you help a poor foreigner get it straight?
