Those should be hard, at least not just mild. That could be a bit of a task. I have straightened a few bayonets and a few swords though. You'd need a good bench vise and remember metal has a memory so you have to bend slightly past the kink and let it return. It's not going to break though.
Where EXACTLY is the kink? Halfway, front two inches, at the tang...?

If there is more than one bend, i.e. a kink, you may have your work cut out trying to get it straight.
Agreed. A poor attempt first time makes it harder.
I'm thinking you two are right. I'm using this one for a static display so I think I'll just leave it. It's not very noticeable from the side. Trying to find another one. Boy have these things taken a jump in price!
If anyone asks, just say it was kinked on a rib during a banzai attack.
Try straightening a piece of mild steel with more than one bend in it and you'll see how difficult it is.
