I imported several from Canada back then after retransfer authorizations became possible again, (2005), with PM RSAT, U.S Department of State. I was told they came from Vietnam, not Korea. I'd guess they were never returned post WWII and may have seen service in WW2, Korea and Vietnam. I kept one which is virtually identical to the OP's with the US ownership mark stamped by hand just forward of the ejection port. There were a few with the rolled on stamps too which were produced in the 1940's. I'd like to find an original butt in decent condition for mine. It's chipped/worn at the toe. I could patch it but haven't gotten around to it yet. I still have a stripped receiver and barrel in the project rack in case anyone wants a "ground up" restoration project.
Apparently the trench guns that were abandoned in RVN was staggering. A few years back there was an influx here too, and the guns were everything from flt new to unacceptable spares...all makes were present as I recall too.
About 10 years ago there was a guy who imported a bunch of those Vietnam trench guns through Canada into the U.S. I recall there being Stevens 520s as well as some Winchester Model 12s. Many of the Model 12s were not WWII shotguns. Rather, they were very late production guns from 1963.
That’s very interesting , the very thought that a gun like this could survived 3 possibly 4 wars is incredible.
Through Canada from Viet Nam? Harvey (first name) ring a bell? They were mostly sold at the Reno Big Show. Some sold at Knob Creek. Anybody get any paperwork? Harvey was putting together his documents to provide to his customers, then he fell and suddenly died. This ring a bell?
