ID a Hand Guard ? TEST
Got in to my Photo bucket account today......... and found they are under new management and attempting to win back our confidence. So for now it appears out pictures are no longer held hostage. No more playing Whack a Mole to knock down pop ups. We'll see how long it lasts, but while I had the time I was in there doing some pre summer cleaning... before I try a new hosting site.
Anyway,
Came across these pictures of a Carbine Hand Guard I pulled from a box. Before trying to ID the maker, I'll ask:
1st question- Does this look like a Type II shallow cut with narrow sighting groove to any of you?
Or Type I Deep cut with wide sighting groove?

Everyone who participates gets a Gold Star....
Good Luck,

OK Charlie, I'll say it is a type II. Looks wide and deep in the front and narrow and shallow in the rear. Is it a LW-B???

Looks moderately deep. MU?

Here's a top and bottom view.
To me it looks like it's not a Type I or a Type II..... More like a Type 1 1/2.
No markings found on the bottom.
Wonder Why ??

Years back I made a bulk purchase of Hand guards and stocks. This Hand guard came from that purchase. I have no idea who 'Made it'. Size and fit is perfect, but who made it is a mystery.
I don't know if it could have been some type of commercial guard, or possibly made over seas. As there were many stocks with the US or Korean rack paint jobs and Hand guards with the sighting groove being painted. So far all that I have pulled have been USGI other than a couple stocks (Un-marked) made from Kapur wood
Note how there were never any holes drilled for attaching rivets.... just the retaining tab which was nail or tacked on.

Been kinda slow here, so I posted for the curious. Thx to those who probably remembered this from being shown before and not spoiling it.
