I am putting together a 1897 Winchester trench shotgun. I an awaiting the heat shied. It is coming unblued.
So is there an easy way I can blue it or is there someone who can blue it for me? I checked Brownells and they are out of blueing chemicals. Or another source. I do not want to have to buy a tank and lots of chemicals for one or two projects.
Any guidance would be great

There's a whole long thread about rust bluing here and a few members have done it very successfully. That could be a way to go. I'd be surprised if you couldn't find a gunsmith close to you that can blue it.
I used Brownells cold blue on my M12 trenchgun [in the white] heat shield/mount. But Fords gunsmithing is in Florida. I can’t imagine they couldn’t blue it for you. Your pix isn’t very good but they would probably do your whole ‘97. Good luck on your build.
I would agree and suggest exactly the same. Perhaps a simple glass bead and blue on the gun but a polish and blue so it all matches would be super nice...Quote:
