Found another U on the barrel, also the barrel is matching.

I believe that "U" is actually a "D".

Yes, I agree with Brian - partially-struck D with a broad arrow in it = Australian acceptance mark. U with broad arrow would have been South African, which would be unexpected given the Tasmanian stock disc.

Yep, that's what happens when you use flat letter stamps on a rounded surface.....:lol:
I wonder if he stamped the barrel just to see if he could get it on the second try haha!
