This is a rather unremarkable 1954 Chinese Type 53. I would have passed on it except for the two Chinese characters on the butt. Anyone out there who might know what this translates to?

My knowledge is limited but what i can tell you is that it is not a rack number. It is likely the town or region that was given the rifle for their version of national guard duty.
I like the Hudson's Bay blanket it is sitting on!
