Quick Question For Our 1903 Experts
Hello. Could one of our resident experts please tell me what these marks mean to you? Do they appear to be armory struck? Do they indicate that this barrel and receiver were mated at the armory? Are they proof that they were? I'm trying to determine, if possible, whether my Springfield sporter's barreled action left the Springfield Armory as a barreled action or not.
Thank you!
For those of you that don't remember it or who missed my earlier threads about it, I've also included a photo of the whole rifle.
All pertinent information about this rifle, and a ton of photos, can be found in this earlier thread: https://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=63908 It's serial # is 1343992 though many around it, including the one immediately prior to it (1343991) are NRA Sporters or National Match rifles. I'm beginning to believe that it was not an NRA Sporter but rather sold by the DCM as an NM barreled action.
