Good morning to you all !
I want to replace a warped stock, as aiming off to correct for the weather is a nuisance. I am looking at a low-wood carbine stock that has IO in the sling cut-out. To the left of the cut-out, but stamped so that it reads correctly if you hold the rifle muzzle-down, is

PROD
RWH

Standard Products is obvious, but RWH?
Ex-factory original (if so, which period)? Or replacement? Or fake?
Please help!
IO is actually an OI, manufactured by S.E. Overton for Inland

You have a Original WWII era stock, as Jim stated made by Overton for use by Inland.
STD PRO is Standard Products who was one of the prime war time makers of carbines.
Post WWII, Standard Products received a government contract to rebuild/update carbines.
The RWH stands for the Districts Small Arms Inspector........ whose name I can't recall.

I had found that site, and knew about IO /OI. I suppose that the stock was supplied to Standard Products by Overton, and therefore marked Std Prod before the rifle was assembled. So it would have been an genuine part for a Std Prod carbine. But who/what was RWH? Standard Products acceptance/inspector???
Oops, thanks Charlie, you posted while I was typing. All clear now. If you (or anyone else) finds out the name behind RWH, please post it here!
The time frame of the rebuilding was from 1948 till the contract ran out a year or so later. Those stocks marked with a U were done at Underwood at the same time as Standard Products. Between them they rebuilt over 400,000 carbines. The rebuilding then switched to the major armories.
Who was inspector RWH ?
I can't find the information about the Inspector, that I had here some where.

Charlie, I spent quite a bit of time looking up RWH and came to the same conclusion. I did find a statement by one of the moderators on another forum - said that the inspector initials were only stamped on new guns when they were accepted, and not when they went through rebuild facilities. I don't know if that statement is true. :dunno: - Bob
The STD PROD RWH stamp was applied once the carbine had been rebuilt and then inspected. The stamp was similar to the original makers stamp in that it was an acceptance stamp back to the military indicating the carbine was now fit to go back to them.

Seems like it was one of our old school guys like BQ, NEWSCOTLANDER, DBARNETTE, ROGERM/BUBBA, etc who had mentioned it.
