wwi m1916 Holster
I was given this holster from my great aunts estate. Sadly no 1911 in it but rather a Colt lighning from 1888. Go figure!
Anyway, I was trying to ID the manufacture but can find only a M.S. stamped on the back. I assume this is the inspector initials but they are very low on the back, not up further between the belt slips like I have seen. Anyone know how to ID the manufacture when the stamping is worn away? See pics

Too bad the belt hooks are cut off, the use of a pants belt is what's done this. You can oil a bit with any of the leather oils on the area and it might bring it up as a shadow...
Why not bring out the Lightning to show us. there's a forum for that too? Could be on the member's showcase... https://www.milsurps.com/forumdisplay.php?f=35
Or the Off Topic section... https://www.milsurps.com/forumdisplay.php?f=40
