Nice looking pistol...
Your Remington Rand was buffed and re-finished by parkerizing. The original finish was Dulite Blue.
Thank you for your comments!
Nice gun, but it looks refinished to me.
A refinish would probably be expected on these, though, right? Did they go through a rebuild after the war?
I did see a 1911 (NOT A1) at a gun store the other day. Blued finish, flat mainspring, all that good stuff. They wanted $2,500.
Thing is...I've done lots of these in the past and there's no way to tell. I glass bead blasted them and parkerized them in both black and grey so they looked good. The stampings were still clear and they looked new. People could easily suggest they were unissued or arsenal refinished... I say there's no way to tell when this was done or by whom.
Jim. The first thing I look at is the OC canons. They were applied after the pistol was blued.....so they should show raw metal. Sometimes you have to tilt them around a bit but the marks always show up.

A better picture. I took it in the sun room and tilted it around a bit.

That one I'd never heard before Rick... Didn't know.
But my statement was to the effect that it had been refinished but there's no way to tell if it was someone that was used to refinishing them or an arsenal... I think it was bead blasted and parked not buffed but who "Done it" is the mystery.
Never knew about the marking after it was blued. I always thought all marks went on before...
Definitely buffed and re-Park, slide has the second type addresses from serial number 935000 to 1016000.
Mistake on your serial! RR started serials at 916405 (Nov. 1942) to 2465139 (Jul. 1945
Barrel should have a HS ( High Standard) marked on the lug of the barrel.
Du-Lite process has been phased out and replaced by Parkerizing at +/- 1016000 (Aug. 1943)
