Dear all,
Having bought my (first) Lee Enfield No4 Mk2 just a few weeks ago, I am reporting into this forum.
It is the book of Roger Wadham that has brought this forum to my attention. Having browsed here, I can see that being a novice there is a lot to learn for me here.
Reason for buying a Lee Enfield is that one of my friends brought a LE to the Bisley shooting grounds in UK and allowed me to try it out. The bug got me immediately after experiencing what a well built and great performing rifle this is.
Biggest thing at this moment is understanding what rifle I have. I know it is a No4 Mk2, however I cannot decipher the other markings even after looking around here. I might just post a few photographs to see if I can get some help here.
Regards, Paul
I'm an old time C&R collector who enjoys the old milsurps. Nothing too fancy but the crustier and rustier the better. No all matching. I enjoy shooting and desporterizing them the best. One of my last acquisitions was a Columbian Madsen 47 that was missing the stock and had a broken extractor. I found an individual on e-bay who had some extractors made for the M47 that worked great. I've made a stock for it using a P17 stock as I've never seen a M47 stock for sale. Not sure what will be next as the supply of milsurps are drying up.
I am new to Milsurps. I collect WW 1&2 firearms and am interested in starting a branch of the Lee Enfield Rifle Association near where I live (George, Western Cape, South Africa).
I am having problems with improving the accuracy of my No 4 Mk 2. I do have a copy of Roger Wadham's book on 303 accuracy mods.
I reload and am using 174 gr spire point flat base bullets, but these have quite a short bearing surface when compared to the military rounds with the wood or aluminium tips.
I was wondering whether turned brass bullets might give me a better result.
Regards, Mackwag

I'm from New Zealand (Picton, Marlborough) and I recently acquired a 1943 Long Branch No4 MK1* and i like it!!! First gun owned but not first time shooter (Military Service).
Very keen to learn as much as I can about the rifle and reloading options ;)

Hello Folks,
Paul here,
A new west coaster, long time military weapon enthusiast. Always looking to learn and looking forward to doing just that interacting with you folks. Seems like a good site thus far!
(Currently finishing a 1943 Winchester riot build)
I have one DWM-built and one Argentina-built 1909 Argentine Mauser Cavalry carbine. Can anyone tell me where to locate information on the various proof marks I find on the rifles? Thanks!
