New Guy 11Charlie40 here - Aloha from Hawaii
Will learn how all this works as I go. 71 year old disabled vet with bad feet and Type 2 diabetes (form the Agent Orange, they tell me over at the VA) of the Vietnam Era (9-67 to 4-69). Carried the M14 with select fire switch, bipod and extra mags while overseas. Really liked that rifle; anything I could see I could hit, on semi-auto. Really ticked me off that the MP's took away my cartridge collection at Tan Sonut (spelling?) Airfield so I could PCS back to the World.
Was a Class 01 FFL dealer for 30 years, retiring from the business in 2016. Also 27 years as a state certified pyrotechnic operator (Class B explosive) doing over 200 aerial fireworks shows around Hawaii in that time as a stringer for Pyro*Spectaculars of Rialto, CA.
Life member (Patron) of the NRA, served 27 years on the Board of Directors of the Hawaii Rifle Association, Hawaii's NRA State Affiliate. Was a NRA Junior Shooter in the 1960's and was a Life Scout and Troop Winner shooting a .22 cal Remington Mod 513T at the 1964 BSA Jamboree at Valley Forge, PA.
Served as SCCA Hawaii Region Safety Steward (1974-75) and Regional Executive (1976). I had the only street legal Toyota Corrola in Hawaii with a full roll cage in it. Driver's seat only, so I could carry all those orange cones and CO2 fire extinguishers to Hawaii Raceway Park for the Auto Cross and wheel-to-wheel events.
The Hawaii Historic Arms Association has two gun shows a year here in Honolulu. Our next one is the last weekend of this September, the 28th and 29th, at the Blaisdell Center's Exhibition Hall. That's the Fall Show. The Spring Show is March 14th and 15th, 2020.
Yours for the shooting sports,
Al Mongeon
