Did Savage Arms Co. make barrels for M1 Garand?
If so how were they marked?
Thanks for looking.

Never heard or seen a Savage marked barrel for the M1 rifle - but I suppose anything is possible -
In this case a picture of the markings would be invaluable.
Here's the only pic for us...text accompanies.
" This is only pic have, marking is on top of bbl under handguard. They say no other markings on bbl. This was a recent CMP purchase."
I would think that a barrel that was installed in a M1 rifle would have a drawing number - the others did - example Marlin, Buffalo Arms, LMR etc
I'll bet if we wait a minute someone will identify this...
maybe this?
IA CO SAC CA which stands for InterAmerican Company, Sacramento, California which also was known as InterAmerican Import Export Company. Believe they went out of business sometime in the 1980's. No association with International Armament Corp. AKA Interarmsco, Interarms of Alexandria, Va. of which Sam Cummings founded.
Marker is currently unknown. I DO know there were MANY crates of these barrel NEW in the Philippines...years prior to the CMP purchase. Speculation is some offshore contract for repair/rebuild of the MAP supplied garands.
The SAC markings look like they were done with a vibro pen or similar tool. I would be interested to know of the gas cylinder pads are chrome lined?
