Legit Paratrooper stock? & Inland M1 Questions

I need some help on a M1 that I picked up recently if the folks here can help.

Looks like it may rebuild stock without rebuild stamps on the side? or fake?
set off any alarms?

Stock does have
* RI 3 on bottom of grip- faint and dirty but is there
* P on the front of the grip
* B257514 and the "wheel" cast into the buttplate. cannot make out a position #
*What may be a very faint IO in the well of the forend - not sure
* 7/4 rivets with old'ish leather

Does NOT have
* Cartouche on right side or bottom of the grip
* Arsenal Rebuild Marks

The carbine that is in it is in the 5.2 million serial # range with a 2-44 inland barrel. The barrel is marked BI and the gas piston WI (both subcontracted)

Has all inland internal parts e.g. IO flat bolt, hammer, slide. N front sight

*except unmarked trigger housing not sure what this is about.

It look's good to me, stock and M1, flip site does look like it has been missed with, it does have that been there done that look. I'm sure the expert's to follow will have more info. for you.

In the first pic, the barrel appears to have the shadow from a bayonet barrel band (Type 3?) and could we see some close pics? Yes, the rear sight seems to have seen some drifting...I wonder if it was assembled?

Yes, has type three band marks on the barrel. I suspect the rear sight hasn't always been on that carbine action. Remember, the type 2 barrel band and adjustable rear sights were being used at this point (5.2 serial) so there's a chance both the current band and rear sight have been changed. Post a picture with the rear of the barrel exposed around the gas cylinder and we should be able to tell you what band was originally on your Inland.

So the stock seems ok?

Thing is, they were upgraded by the military as a matter of fact. That made it correct at the time. If it had been left, it would be good...as surplussed... I always wonder was the whole thing assembled? The stock put on a carbine that was handy? These other things changed? The stock looks good though, from what I can see. There could be more pics though.

An update.

My dad took the carbine home with him as he is far more knowledgeable about carbines than I ever will be.

He said that the Trigger housing is marked Inland and is a type 3.
Dad does see remnants of an IO in the forestock with a magnifying glass. There is a scrape to that area so I did not see it when I looked.
He has not stripped the Inland bolt yet... to see if the firing pin and extractor are Inland. He was too busy watching the Debate last night I suspect lol
The stock doe not have the "M2 Cut"
He said that it did have a type 3 barrel band on it as you guys suspected. The shadowing on the barrel and a mark where the type 3 barrel band screw would have hit the stock.

Went on to say that the flip sight may have been on there awhile and it does look like someone tried to get it off with a flat head screwdriver. The sight base only has one stake mark on the left side where the screwdriver marks are. It seems that someone may have been trying to tap the sight away from the stake mark (left to right) to remove the flip.

It may be that someone had this stock with another carbine in this stock and put this carbine it to it to make it look like an earlier paratrooper carbine.

If the stock is "real" then I am into this one at "ok" money. I plan to keep it in my collection so the monetary value is not as important to me as the historical value. He has compared it to the paratrooper stocks that he has...and feels good about the one that I found being the real deal.

The barrel date should be good for the serial number. I have a 4.927 with 1-44. Your M1A1 is most likely one that was assembled that way outside the military, which would not have removed the bayo lug band. But from what I can see all parts appear to be USGI.
