Just a quick hello to all and thanks for letting me join, newly retired and ready to play a little more with my "old" guns.
Hi, all.
I guess it's time I posted something. If nothing else, so I can send private mails.
What do I do, gun-wise -- my first gun was bought less than a year into the Øbama Fiasco. I had zero interest in them before that, but no antipathy either. I was willing to cut the guy a lot of slack, but halfway through 2009 I realized "If I'm ever going to do this, I'd better do it now." I could see the writing on the wall. And, living in the People's Republik of Kalifornia, I was right -- I have acquired guns of types and by means that have since become illegal in this blessed paradise.
First gun was a 1937 Mauser 98k. Total mixmaster. Shoots great. I didn't realize that at first but as I got better, the groups got better too until now they are quite acceptable.
Other bang-toys --
K43
Swedish M/96
Swiss K31
Garand
M1903A1
AR-15
Erma EM-1 -- bought to do Appleseed, yes, I got the patch (on second try).
a couple of Swiss Lugers
Hi-Standard Military Trophy
My first priority is shooting, not collecting. I have no use for wall hangers. I started reloading for the 98k when I realized the commercial ammo was even worse than I was, as a new shooter. An investment in a used chronograph bore that out (300 fps variation in a single box of ammo???) With Kalifornia's new background checks on ammo sales, I won't be buying any more commercially loaded ammo here.
Ultimately I want to get out of this state. But I've been spoiled by the weather. Arizona is nice for shooting but I can't stand that level of heat.
The handle "Wernher von Beige" is a gag -- I thought I was so clever with that. Then one day I discovered there was a minor character by that name in Rocky & Bullwinkle -- a scientist friend of Capt. Peter "Wrong Way" Peachfuzz. I must have heard that as a little kid and it got stuck in my brain somewhere.
New guy here, I found this place while looking for info about my SC 03-A3 that I've had for 35 years. It was missing the bolt for all that time but now it is back together.

Good morning, Waratah 46 here - I enjoy shooting my P14 and reading about ex-military firearms in general. Look forward to reading some interesting threads and contributing as best I can.

Looking forward to expanding my knowledge of one of my favorite subjects!
Hello to everyone! I am here to learn. My main interests are U.S. 20th. century military rifles. M1903, M1917, and M1 Garand. The Louisville Gun Show was well attended. I bought a M1917 Lend Lease RA and a SA M1903. Can anyone check SRS for #568642? Thanks!
Looking forward to learning more about WWII rifles. Grandfather had a few bringbacks I'm interested in learning more about.

Hello,
I'm just someone who enjoys history and has collected historical weapons for about 10 years. =)
