Poulins Auction (March 2008)- Item 2309. SMLE Lee Enfield No. 1 MK III Bolt Action Rifle. Cal. 303 British. S# 25975. Overall condition is good. Bore is slightly frosty. Equipped with a canvas receiver cover and a British No. 1 WWII wire cutting device, as well as a bayonet and sling. Retains better than 90% of it’s original blue finish with the buttstock and hand guards showing fair to good with two small repairs to the upper rear hand guard. Bayonet shows good as reworked. Wire cutters show patina but are overall good plus and work well. Sling and canvas receiver cover also work good. (07-2297 / BK / BS) Curio. Est. $ 350 - 500.

A 1916 date rifle marked "crown/GR/BSA Co./ Sht. L.E. /111*". The bore grades fine with strong rifling. Also included is a heavy green canvas sling and a snap on canvas sight cover. Included is a scarce wire cutter marked "Decimals Ltd./Selly Oak /No 1 Mark II/1917". This device is attached by a large wing nut at the muzzle. This wire cutter operated with the forward push of the rifle against the barbed wire. This is not a common item in the USA. A great WW1 Lee Enfield with a scarce accessory from the trench warfare of WW1. FFL or C&R

I know the feeling my old Mosin-Nagant VZ-54 Sniper was recently featured here on this site, it looked familiar and I looked at the serial number and Bingo!

I just noticed that Joe must have decided to keep the bayonet that he originally got with this grouping. For over a $500 profit in a few weeks, I think he could have at least let the new buyer have the bayonet that was originally with it. ;)
