Picked this up at auction in a killer lot of old gun sights (Lyman and Redfield).
But this thing is just a mystery. The label is a bit tattered and stained so Google Translate wasn't able to get a great hold on it. From the few words that flashed up I'm confident it's Chinese and I think it's medical.
Measures 5-5/16" tall 3-15/16" in diameter.
The inside appears enameled in a dark brown color.
Any thoughts?

A Vietnamese gentleman I work with reads a bit of Chinese.
He confirms it's some sort of "powdered" medicine. The 960 is the amount of grams.
The right column, fourth row is some date information - expiration or manufacture.
Can anyone help narrow it down further?
"...some sort of "powdered" medicine..." Which means it could be anything from bear gall bladder to elephant tusk to dried tiger, um, willy. The lid have any kind of gasket? That'd make the thing water proof.
No gasket. Not anymore anyway.
The threads are very fine - 7 turns or so before it comes off. I'd bet it's watertight anyway. I doubt it's worth anything which is fine...I just need to find something nifty to keep in it. Darn thing's probably indestructible.
3-15/16" diameter isn't much but it'd be a dandy thing for an emergency roll of TP. Or a fire starter kit(ZIP fire starter cubes in foil and some wood strike anywhere matches). Checking for water tight means dunking the thing. Easy low tech test. snicker.
Stuff like that has all kinds of uses. Kind of like coffee cans do.
