Current project Savage M1928A1

I was fortunate enough to purchase this beautiful Savage Thompson 1928A1 parts kit this past fall, I am currently awaiting a receiver to finish returning from heat treating and then have ATF approval signed off for a Post dealer sample build on LE demo letter, looking forward to it. Besides one company in PA building receivers anyone else have information for complete receivers? Any info would be appreciated.

Your 20 round magazines should be blue, looks like some had the side holes worked on, do you know if the holes had been plugged ?

I think you need to add a "gun porn" warning to your post.

The mags have been parkerized, the ones that you see were British magazines that were solder filled at some point, heard the Brits did this in North Africa campaign to keep sand out of the magazines. I wish who ever had them before left the solder in place for historical purposes, but at least I know what they are and where they have been, still a cool story none the less.

You should check your twenty round magazines for the 1920 date. You can still find blued twenty round magazines as a Thompson never looks right with a parkerized magazine !

I never really bothered checking the dates on the mags, I guess I need to check that as well, and yes ,I can see a 50rnd mag in the near future, probably a repop since the originals are so expensive.
