Type 99/ Type 38 stocks ?

Will a type 99 action fit a type 38 stock ?..thanks..jv..

Type 99 has a full length upper handguard and nosecap/barrel band. The Type 38 has a partial upper handguard. The lower wood is different also since the 99 was designed to fire a larger caliber than the Type 38.

Also the upper and lower tangs are shaped differently. The recoil lug on the 99 is square, while the 38 is round. The shape of the ejector housings are different as is the rear sight pocket. It would be better to trade for or buy the right stock using the want ads on this forum. Salt Flat

Arisakas are weird in that buying a full gun is usually cheaper than buying parts and building one. For some reason, replacement Atisaka parts are really expensive. You may be better off buying another "parts" gun to get the stock you need.

I have seen type 99 actions put into type 38 stocks which are about a 1/4 inch shorter. So everything must be moved forward. Yes the cost of type 999 parts are crazy. I can not explain the jump in prices. But stock i have sold are running at 200.00 up.

I would speculate that the prices of the parts / stock are high and going higher, is that there were a lot of type 99 and 38's that were sproterized. And now people are wanting to put them back to the original configuration.

mark1 I do understand I did a few 91/30s then a M44 then Steyr M95s Carbine and Long, then I got an Enfield No.4 Mark 1, prices went insane I paid $250 for a stock for it and it is a No 4 Mark 2 totally different from the Mark 1. I attempted to return seller hid behind some bull all sales final garbage. That was 6 years ago still trying to recoup what I got invested in the stock. So be advised Training rifle stocks for the T38 are different as well.
