Thx,
I have less than 3% of that amount in mine....but I bet mine ain't worth nowhere near 20K either.
They would have to have some pretty good provenance before I would consider even half that amount!
I may have found the RMC carbine that was mentioned being sold on GB for over $20,000 in that old post from another forum, back in 2008.
If this is the same one 'They' were talking about, It ended up being listed in 2017 in a RIA Auction. Either way..... here's what I've found.
A WWII Rock-Ola Factory Presentation M1 Carbine.
Marked- EX-6095439
Sold May 6 2017 @ RIA for $23,000.00 Plus Fees.
Take a look... A Beautiful Stock With NO Oiler Cut Out.
Can anyone explain the metal finish: Receiver vs Recoil Plate??

I think the "color" difference is nothing more than light reflection.
That had to be at the very end of production which would be May 1944 for it. The carbine sure looks like someone buffed the finish off the whole rear of the receiver. I would guess the receiver was made for normal production but with production ending they appear to have stamped it with the EX so not to charge the government for it and used it for a presentation carbine.
