The Open box SA means that the rifle was rebuilt at Springfield Armory and the F is believed to be the inspector...hth
Thar is for an m 1-d see if there are screw holes on the bottom for a cheek pad. garandfather@earthlink.net tom
Any markings or stamps on the pistol grip ?
I think the larger RA-P is early WW2
Might it be "SA" over "R", with the right side of the "R" incomplete? Springfield rebuild from what I understand, but I could be altogether wrong, too!
This long channel SA GHS stock has the open box and RIA stamp, double proof and the RA-P on the pistol grip. It is without the pad screw holes.
Wow, a real one! I'm so used to seeing that stamp on WARDORs that I'm immediately suspicious :(
Never know what you will find, this Winchester WRA WB stock has the RIA EB on the butt yet still has the no-trap buttplate. Looks like they were starting to correct the buttplate modification ! There are two P proofs too.
