I just picked up this little jewel for a couple of hundred... I am guessing the military never used compensators for trainers?

I am in Texas, so Kitchen and guns are standard operating procedure! :-)
I know it is not military, but I think it is a heck of a find. This little jewel served for the Texas DPS and was actually at the Luby’s shooting. The trooper told me it was one of 39 ordered for...
The two really nice 97's went for $8,050 each.
Here is my M12 parkerized stamp.
Would anyone have an opinion on these markings? In Canfield's book the Parentheses are reversed on the proof stamp and the removal of bluing around the stamps looks incorrect to me. Thanks!

Looks like they have some nice ones coming up for auction in December, including a Model 10:

I don't know if it was misrepresented... They stated this:
"This is an unusual example of a Smith & Wesson model 10 shotgun that has either been produced or modified to a trench style shotgun."

Did they ever make this during the war?
RIA: The Finest Antique Firearms And Modern Gun Auction Company in The US.
Brought $4312.00
I saw one of these at the Dallas Gun Show a few months ago... It was in a little nicer condition and the Dealer was asking $1700 for it. I own one that is in a lot worse shape, and a Gunsmith said...

I wonder if they will credit the buyer once they find out, or if it is an "as is" auction. I talked to someone at Heritage Auctions and they say they stand behind anything they auction and have had...
You would think that if all you did was auction guns, the appraisers would be experts. I had previously viewed RIA in high regard, now they are classified as buyers beware.
So I found this 97 on RIA auctions and the item states the stock has been replaced, which I know detracts from the value. Then I started looking at the markings and noticed they are on the right...
I have not even thought of that! Unfortunately I am lacking the Geiger counter to check it.
That is exactly what I was thinking when I bought it.... Unfortunately, this weapon cost me an arm and a leg. Now I have to find a Model 97.
That is exactly what I wanted to hear! Thanks! Here is the cool part about this gun:

It served it's second life...
Tom, do you think that conversion would have taken place at the Arsenal? Kind of makes sense to me if it is a low SN and gets refinished with the later shield. I did check the end of the barrel...
Hey Guys (new to the forum), I was wondering if I could get a little help on a model 12 trench gun? A few years ago I bought a Remington Model 11 for $100 and then found out after the fact it was a...
