Is there a fool proof way to tell if the stock on my M1922 is "original" (military), or somebody's attempt long ago to make it purdy?

Yup, that's probably the route I'll take....sometjhing along the lines of a Garand type lace on.

I recently bought a very nice military Danish RB in 11.7 and after one range session, I determined it (me) needs a cheek pad. Any ideas of where to get one or a mod to a existing milsurp one? PS ...
So probably not any collector interest? Sure wish I could figgure out the marking at the stock butt.
