I am traveling for the next few weeks but plan to diassemble the gun and give it a good cleaning and inspection when I return.
The gun was extracting the fired casings just fine but the bolt would lock back into battery without chambering a new round. I had manually slide the bolt back to
to pick up a fresh round.
That's a real coincidence and you have a 1941 to. What is the difference in the firing pins how do you know which one your gun requires?
Would the Danish factory ammo have purple dye around the inside of the primer?
I did not check head space as I was told it was checked and correct. The head stamp on the ammo is "AMA 91"
Went to the range today with a newly acquired 1941 Garand. After firing about 10 rounds I noticed all the spent cases had primer damage. The spent primers were either missing from the case or they...
This was the first no 4 I have seen with hollowed out bolt . Can I assume the 4 digit serial number begining with "K" indicates production at BSA ?
I will have to post some. I thought the hollowed out bolt was unique
I picked up a really clean no4 mk1 . This gun has a 4 digit serial number with "K" at the beginning . It also has 1944 on the but socket next to the serial number. The serial numbers on the receiver,...
Your right, It is a "P" at the bottom of the stock. My mistake, Sorry about that
How do you identify the pre-war type "C" stock? This stock has an "S" in a circle stamped on the bottom of the stock. What dose the 5-3 at the end of the barrel indicate? There is also an "S" at the...
Finally got another look at this gun the other day.
Serial Number 1384xxx
barrel is marked near the front sight 5-3
Stock is marked on the bottom near the trigger guard with an "S"
I could...
Since it is not a NM gun dose it otherwise look original? The barrel looks good, rifling is sharp. Just curious what kind of value you guys would put on it?
Here is one more
Here are some photo's. Let me know what you guys think.
How can you tell if it was a national match other then then having the serial number on the bolt?
Looking at a 1903 that a LGS has for sale. I have dated it to 1937. It looks to be in good shape an original. My question is should there be any numbers on the bolt like the serial number or...
Your right in That wood is almost perfect .
Yes, It dose appear to be brushed on. So it is safe to assume it did not come out of the BSA factory like that?
Hi Peter, Yes if even looks like the paint run on the side of the receiver. Were any of the receivers painted with black paint from the factory? The gun has "K" serial number so I assume is must be...
Can anyone tell me if the finish on this No4 Mk1 is original? Any help would be appreciated .
The "S" is stamped on the butt stock just behind the trigger guard
No other markings that i can find. Who is John Curtis?
The serial number is 20560 . The bolt says JC20560. Other then the S on the butt stock I can find no other markings.
I am looking at a No4 Mk1 that has a 5 digit serial number on the wrist with a "JC" on top of it. The only other marking I can find is an "S" on the wood. What can you guys tell me about this one?
