Thanks for the reply Kevorino and sorry for my late reply. I just got done cleaning the sling and applying pure neatsfoot oil to it. I'm going to give this a try myself. I plan on ordering some...
Can anyone recommend a good leather restoration shop/expert for this job?
I should have been more clear, I am looking for a leather restoration expert or shop that can do the work for me. I'm afraid I would make it worse and don't want the cracks to break the sling.
Hi all,
I've got an M1905 sling dated 1919 that is in dire need of restoration (cracked). Can anyone recommend a good leather restorer?
All,
I have an Israeli FAL magazine with a parkerized finish that needs a little work. It has a 1/8" spot of rust on it. How do I remove, repair, treat this spot?
Thanks to everyone for their replies. I will re=read them all and consider my way forward. I am feeling more confident about my Krag now but will be cautious.
I have not fired it yet. I wanted to verify that the headspace was good first and it doesn't seem to be.

Anyone?
Hey all,
I just checked the headspace on my 1898 with Clymer go, no-go gauges and the bolt closed on both. Is there a fix for this? I have not fired this gun but would like to. Hope someone can...
Didn't notice that. Thanks.
Wow! Thanks for the reply. I do not reload 45-70 so I will have to find a case. Do you know of a company that makes 45-70 that is safe to fire in trapdoors?
Gents,
I have a trapdoor that I would like to shoot (with appropriate ammo) but do I need to check headspace? If so, how is this done?
Anyone else have this problem? Solutions?
I have a No. 4 Mk. 1* that I am trying to bring back to milsurp condition from sporterized and the screw for the front barrel band is not long enough to span the gap and bite into the threads. The...
I'm gonna give it a try. How do I remove the brass rivet? I could grind off the head but what do I use to replace it? Any tips on how to repair the "oven cleaner" wood?
The for end is already cut off and pretty much screwed up already. I have purchased a replacement fore end that is missing this piece. It was advertised as a Mk. 2 but the rear of the fore end is...
Can it be tapped out with a punch? It looks like one side has a head to it like a rivet and the other side is smaller diameter.
Hi all, another question about my No. 4 Mk 1; what is this steel band at the rear of the fore end, what is its purpose and can it be moved to another fore end? I believe it is some sort of...
Thanks guys. Know anyone with one for sale? I'd rather not spend $400 for a complete set.
Gents,
I've stripped my old sporterized fore end and found somethings I don't understand. Looking at the photos below, you'll notice a photo of what I believe to be the original barrel band...
hhmmmm. Mine shrunk.
Since I am having to splice this forend together, can someone give me the proper length of the forend from end to end? The receiver end to the tip at the front sight. When I place the two pieces...
Thanks for the info.
How do you restore a buggered up screw head?
