Yup, the last 5 I've seen came in that case. The case has desiccant in it.
I would give that a try if he wants me too. But that's part of the character of the rifle. A service rifle is going to have bumps and bruises.
Don't know he's glad it didn't, Came out of the South Aniston store though.

It was one of the few stocks that had a inspectors cartouche, although not sure if it correct to the March 1944 date the serial number indicates.
My son bought his first M1 Garand today at the CMP and I'm wondering if anyone here can check the SRS to see if it's in it for him.. SN# 2806429
