I have 1942 Long Branch no4 mk1* 3 (F) FTR serial#4L6760 that went through FTR in '51 according to engraving.It has the micrometer sight,marked with an F.

This "mod"allows you to engage safety with the hammer not cocked(if I remember right?),that was why they did it.

Dave authenticated my non CMP M1C serial number.It came from the middle of the first block of 100 if memory serves?

The sn most likely was from service in a foreign country(a lot sn'd the rifle to the stock),they did this to whatever stock happened to be on it.The cartouche is an SA with what looks like a P,or R...

If I were a rifle,I would be overcome with sadness from being prevented from doing what I was made to do.I would want to be shot :D

The last time I found anything in an M1 stock I found a whole bunch of bits of rubble.This was in a well used WRA stock.

I also found an M14 oiler and some patches in another,I think it was a GAW...

Ha ha,I do have 20/20 vision,and was holding at 6 on the 25yrd,but I couldn't see it at 100,so I just aimed where I"thought"it would be on the paper at 100 ;)

I went to the range today messing around with 2 loads at the 25yard bench and both loads pretty much took the center of the bullseye out with a 6 O'clock hold,so I took 5 rnds to the 100yard because...

I don't think it was all that bad,especially after some paint removal and a new stock :thup:
