One thing I don’t understand is why the PRVI “match” ammo 200 FMJ at 2087 fps seems to kick harder and eject further than the FNM 198 FMJ at 2314 FPS.
I can only assume different powders causing...

I am fully aware that the FN 49 was released in those various cartridges. The question at hand is did the Egyptians re-barrel their 8 mm FN 49 into 7 x 57 at some point after the war. That is what...
  8. Did Egypt re-barrel any of their FN 49’s in 7 mm Mauser?

A local gun store has an Egyptian FN 49 for sale. They have it labeled 7 x 57. When I asked if this was an error, they said no, that Egypt had re-barreled a large number of their FN 49’s after the...

If the powder in my Turk ammo looks like that I would toss it in the garden as well. But if it looks good, I’d think it’s okay. Broke down 8mm Lebel rounds with grey silvery square flake powder....

    Chilean 1895 still shoots!

I finally finished removing the glossy varnish from my 1895 and hand rubbing four coats of raw linseed oil into it. Looks good. So I took it to the range. Still shoots.

ThAnkyou sir. I pretty much determined it would not be a good idea, but your first-hand Experience is yet another example of why I should not try.

Never mind. It makes sense from my reading that the thinner cup wall of the pistol primer would more than likely pierce, and could cause a catastrophic failure with the higher pressures of the rifle...
  17. Large pistol in place of large rifle primers?

Somehow I managed to run out of large rifle primers for my 7 mm Mauser and similar milsurps. Any idea if large magnum, pistol primers would suffice? I have a good supply of those. I realize they are...

  19. Husqvarna commercial M640 chamber strength?

I know my Loewe Model 1895 7x57 is a weaker “small ring” action and should be hand loaded for accordingly.
But how about my Husky M640 “small ring” rifle that’s been re-barreled to 7x57?

  24. F.M.E Chilean 7x57 surplus ammo safe? 1976

I would happily let you know if I had a Springfield stripper clip to try. I guess it depends on if the Springfield clips are the same as the original cartridge the rifle was made for.
