"I assume these are import markings" -- yes. century arms.
FTR - factory thorough repair. british notation for a factory rebuild. the "749" might indicate july of 1949. i can't see ANY of these...
let me see if i understand... your FIRST enfield purchase was a 1941 no4? dang the luck... i've only EVER seen one (1) 1941 no4. it was long branch 0L4991. it was sporterized, chopped to pieces...
congratulations, luis!
you know... you have a great last name (Bren) for an enfield website! ;)
i've heard people opine that peacetime construction was to higher standards. i don't know if that is true or not. i'd still say condition is everything. i paid $400 for my iraqi copy. all...

found this 1911 LSA at the January RK gun show in springfield, mo. the buttstock indicates an FTR of 04/45. the barrel confirms with a barrel/re-barrel...
interesting. wonder what the phrase "pattern 14" means here??? it means something else to me than what it seems to mean here.
two other non-enfield observations...
saw a nice canadian ross for $1000 that i passed on, but wish i'd bought. i started to ask the guy if he'd take $900, and didn't. dang it...
came away...
the guy with the $1800 mkV has had it there for several shows, and personally i don't really think he understands what it is. agree on rising prices. i bought a really nice lithgow no1mk3 all...
one of the pictures looks like the rifle may have volley sights installed. if so, springfield sporter does not have that fatboy forearm to accommodate that. i have inquired repeatedly. at least...

the indians went from this to the rear tie plate. so did the ishapore factory continue to have draws problems with splits and such? did this application not work at all?
my solution... drive the screwdriver through the leather washer (by hand; no pounding) and turn until the screwdriver seats in the slot. remove bolt. my leather washer was all dried up and wasted...
i'm having trouble reading the markings. looks an awful lot like a 1943 Maltby to me. as for value, i have sworn off sporterized versions unless they are dirt cheap. they are far too expensive to...
impressions having attended...
no4's are out the roof on price. one guy had a 1943 longbranch at the right price, $325. then he told me he had sanded and refinished the stock. i kept walking. ...
...anyone going?? good lord willing and the creek don't rise, i'll be there.
last november in tulsa, i scored a 1915 SSA, 1916 BSA, and a June 1942 Savage.
...looking forward to it...
interesting. is the guy on the right holding a T enfield with a camo finish on the wood? enfield on the left appears to have traditional finish. looks like both bolt-handles are of the "hollow"...
1922 lithgow enfield B3907 seeks bolt of same serial number
looks like somebody drilled the buttstock. is that what it is?

this looks odd to me. doesn't it appear as if both rifles cock left-handed? or am i missing something really obvious???
oops. my bad. somebody already mentioned it. sorry
i double-checked the nock's form. it is blank, except for green paint which covers the metal under the wood, and cosmoline -- which covers the green paint. :)
so best guess, the Iraqi disk was...
:):)
i double-checked the buttstock for the "FTR" markings, or the more ethereal "FR" markings. no such luck. just not there. thanks for reminding me!!!!!
this is a no 1 mk 3 (no stars; no strikethroughs) receiver dated 1915. wanted help with the stock disk markings. i can post more photos, but she just looks like any other correct no 1 mk 3. the...
1922 no 1 mk3*. B3907. barrel dated 09/25. bolt is not marked in the usual place, however on the underside i find E1900, clearly not original. underneath the bolt on the action i notice D5689,...
enfield collector checking in. i own 13. ...and counting. :) addicting, isn't it...
