I have a 1903 with a "2" stamped on the very end of the forend. Any idea what this signifies? The rifle is also drilled & tapped for a Lyman 48, but does not have the mortise-cut in the stock.
Thanks, BAR. Did you notice the unusual relief cut behind the pistol grip. I kind of wish it wasn't there, but it's interesting. Makes one wonder what they were thinking.

Could someone verify my NRA Sporter, SN 1366507? Star Gage # 1 1077, barrel dated 9-30. NS Bolt with electro-pencil SN on bottom. No star on muzzle.
I'd like to have a copy of the applicable...
